The Side Effects of Marijuana

Marijuana, weed, pot, Mary Jane and many other slang names are all synonymous with cannabis , which is the plant containing THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Like alcohol or other drugs, marijuana can cause unwanted side effects. These may affect your health and your mental health.

1. Increased Risk of Heart Attack
The risk of heart attack caused by weed is linked to the psychoactive component of the drug, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). When you smoke weed, THC triggers inflammation in endothelial cells that line the interior of blood vessels.

In lab experiments, THC also causes atherosclerosis, or the buildup of plaques made of fats and cholesterol.

People who smoke weed more than once a month are twice as likely to suffer a heart attack. This was true even after the researchers adjusted for age, gender and other factors.

2. Increased Risk of Lung Cancer
The risk of lung cancer may increase for people who smoke marijuana. This is because cannabis contains more tar than tobacco, and the cancer cells in the lung need to be exposed to tar for a long time to develop.

In a recent case-control study, researchers evaluated the impact of lifetime marijuana use on lung cancer risk. The analysis included 6 lung cancer cases and 1,040 controls matched on age, gender, and neighborhood.

3. Increased Risk of Lung Infections
The smoke from weed contains chemicals that are toxic to your lungs and other organs. They can lead to a variety of lung issues, including wheezing and coughing.

Lung infections can range from mild to severe and may need medical treatment. They can cause serious complications and can worsen existing health conditions, like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or heart disease.

Pneumonia is an infection of the smaller air sacs in your lungs that can be caused by bacteria, viruses or fungi. It can be mild or severe, depending on the type of germ that causes it and your age and overall health.

4. Increased Risk of Asthma
The lungs are sensitive organs, and anything can irritate them. This is especially true if you have asthma, which is a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation and breathing problems.

Smoking marijuana can aggravate your asthma, so it's important to know the risks before you start using it. Fortunately, short-term medicinal uses of marijuana may not cause any serious damage to your lungs, but heavy use may.

In fact, a new survey found that many people who have asthma also use cannabis. This could make it difficult for you to control your symptoms.

5. Decreased Appetite
Many people have heard about the “marijuana munchies,” or an increase in food cravings after consuming certain types of cannabis. This phenomenon is often attributed to the psychoactive ingredient tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC.

However, if you choose strains that contain cannabinoids that may decrease appetite, like CBD or THCV, your cannabis experience may be much different.

The decreased appetite caused by weed can have a serious medical significance, especially for patients who suffer from weight loss as a result of cancer, HIV, or other conditions. It can also improve eating habits for those with anorexia.

6. Increased Risk of Addiction
People who use marijuana frequently and for a long time are at increased risk of developing an addiction to it. This is especially true if they have underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder.

This is because weed contains a chemical called THC that can alter brain chemistry in a way that makes it hard to control use of the drug. THC also increases tolerance, which means users need to use more to get the same effect.

It's good when it's in moderation. Then the effect that I get is what I like the most. By the way, I recently learned that there are a bunch of different strains. I just read about the difference between sativa and indica in just such an article like this link on the blog of an online store where I already bought cannabis with delivery. I think it's cool that I can choose the weed with the effect that I need at the moment.

HARDCORE CYCLES was started in the Greater Philadelphia area by a group of tight friends with a passion for V-Twin performance aftermarket parts. They would sling parts at local swap meets or trade with friends all while wishing there was a one stop shop for performance parts especially relating to the Dyna and FXR scene – so they created their own.
