How it all started… At the tender age of eight, starting out learning how to play piano, Carmen Brandy realized she loved and was inspired by music. In the summer of 2011, Carmen received her first guitar from her father and after learning a hand full of chords, it wasn't long before she started strumming and singing songs connecting her experiences to music. Being raised and influenced by mostly bluegrass music, it was natural that Carmen fell in love with Country Music. Growing up in the small town of Safety Harbor, Florida, she knew the Lord had a plan for her and this is what she was meant to do.
On Carmen's first trip to Nashville she was able to perform her first ever "writers night" at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. That evening Carmen met a couple of Nashville singer/songwriters and once back in Florida, they started weekly song writing sessions via Skype. Several weeks later Carmen went back to Nashville to record her very first demo and with that in hand she captured the attention of an amazing producer from San Antonio, Texas named Robert De La Garza formally of Starstuck Entertainment. Over the summer of 2012 Carmen spent two weeks out in San Antonio to create her first Ep.
Then in 2013 Carmen Brandy launched her 2nd self tilted Ep, with the incredible Nashville producer, Andy Sheridan of Charliehorse Productions who also tours and plays keys and guitar for Hunter Hayes. Carmen had Ethan Pilzer (Big & Rich’s Bass player), Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett’s Fiddle player), Brock West (Joe Nichols) and Jeff Smith (Phil Vassars) as studio musicians on her Ep.
After many trips back and forth to Nashville as well as lots of prayer, in the fall of 2013 Carmen and her family made the decision to make the big move to Nashville and currently live in Franklin, Tennessee. Carmen has performed shows in and around the Nashville area and beyond. In addition to playing area festivals, concerts and local music venues, Carmen has been on local TV news stations, internet radio stations, news articles, and magazine cover. A talented musician and songwriter in her own right, Carmen is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). She was recently selected to participate in ASCAP’s highly coveted, year-long Guidance from Publishers for Songwriters (GPS) program in 2015. Now in its fifth year, the GPS program puts emphasis on getting the best of Nashville’s unsigned ASCAP songwriters in front of the city’s vibrant publishing community. This year, 18 song writers are paired with publishers for one meeting a month, along with a follow-up meeting to help develop the writer. Carmen also placed in the top 15 Teens of the International Song Competition (ISC) out of 20K entries for her song "You're Beautiful".
Carmen was also named “Female Vocalist of the Year” and her Sycamore Tree video was in the top five for “Video of the Year” in the 2015 Nashville Universe Awards Show at the Wildhorse Saloon. Her music video is now being played around the country on Zuus TV.
Carmen has an already growing songbook of songs and is an extremely hard worker, so combining her faith with her works she is confident that her dreams will come true. With her authentic style, commanding vocals and songwriting talent Carmen creates music that's unmistakably fresh and contemporary. Carmen captures hearts of her audience with her unrelenting energy and outgoing personality and embraces each opportunity to perform. Carmen's music has all the elements for a unique sound as well as a cross-over to more of a alternative country feel. She hopes that her music will evoke her listeners to want to hear everything she creatively writes and performs.
