Is "Happy Pop Rock" even a musical genre? The Colton and Zara Band says it is—and proves it.

The Colton and Zara Band began when childhood friends Colton and Zara were playing around a campfire with songs Zara had written, right after their former band had parted ways. The band had been invited to play a showcase in Nashville, and though Colton and Zara were in college to become veterinarians, they decided to give the showcase a try, for fun, with the new songs.

Three months later, the duo was signed to a label, preparing for their first tour to the west coast in 2009, and finishing up their first album, Whimsical Dreams-- a light, airy, and melodic acoustic album. After seeing success in the West Coast coffee houses and restaurants, and on a winter tour in the northern states following soon after, the duo expanded into a band as Stevie and Dustin Davy, and bassist Darren Schrag, filled the stage.

This growth brought forth the band’s second album in 2010, My Favorite Day, stepping up not only the amount of songs, but also the content, and the fun, upbeat melodies, along with more serious songs such as “Librarian” and hidden track, “White Bird”. This album also featured their most successful song, “The Cupcake Song”, with its bouncy, light, and altogether fun beat, winning the hearts—and dance moves—of many.

In 2012, the band (now signed with Take Back Records out of Nashville) toured for six months with the major national tour, The Extreme Tour, covering all of the east and west coasts, and have opened for Sanctus Real, After Edmund, Paradigm, We Are Leo, DaMac, and Crazy Crazy Awesome Awesome. They have also made it onto the hip-hop album, "Man Up 116", featuring Lecrae, Tedashii, KB, Trip Lee, PRo, and Andy Mineo, have released three albums, made it onto several radio stations nationally, and currently released a teaser of the upcoming radio single, "You Are Love" onto www.Rdio.com.

Colton and Zara are preparing to release "You Are Love" July 2nd, 2013, and are also working on a touring schedule, along with upcoming music videos.

Hey Colton Davy!  I met you at the Wild Beaver...remember?  Our artist is Kacey Smith.   Anyway I want you to know about a radio show you can appear on next time you are in Nashville.  It is in Tullahoma TN which is about 1.5 hours south of Nashville.  The show is on FM 93.9 The Duck and the show is called "Backroads to Music City".  They interview artists of all genres and play CD's and you also perform live as well.  The studio is very small so your whole family band might have some trouble performing live but 2-3 of you would be fine.  You should contact Neal Gordon, host.  He is a friend and you should tell him I sent you his way.  gordonneal65@gmail.com   Let me know if you get it worked out.  ;)
