Tell us about yourself:: My name is Philip, from Arkansas. I am the radio promotions and A&R contact for CMG Records Nashville. I have been a musician most of my life. I attended University of Central Arkansas (1988 - 1991) for music education/performance, Middle Tennessee State U. (1995 - 1997) and received B/S of science in audio recording technology. I was very active in professional groups at MTSU such as the ARMS (Association of Recording Management Students) committee, AES (Audio Engineering Society, and the university's concert committee, through which we promoted concert to the campus, including AC/DC, White Zombie, Filter, Bobby Blue Bland, etc. While attending MTSU. I taught a class 2-3 times each semester on how to tune drums for both studio and live sound. I volunteered to work the CRS seminar in 1996. The following year, the Country Radio Broadcasters (CRB) contracted me to run the logistics for the CRS events (1997 - 2000). When I became contracted by the CRB, I also was the right hand helper to David Debolt, who was the lead person during the CRS events. In 1997, I hired on at Aristo Media, Music Row, as the full time video and CD distribution person, and eventually entered the radio promotions department. I continued to perform the logistics duties for the CRS events, as Jeff Walker (owner of Aristo Media) has always been heavily involved with the CRS show. While employed at Aristo Media, I continued my involvement with the MTSU recording program by bringing country bands to MTSU to record, so the students could get a more realistic view of what the industry is really like, away from the books. The most memorable group that I brought to MTSU was The Sons of the Desert, in 1998.Unfortunately that ended in 1999, due to the consolidation and down sizing that hit Music Row in 1999. I am now working for CMG Records Nashville as the radio promotions and A&R person. I will be performing the majority of my duties from my home in Arkansas, via the internet, until I am able to move back to Nashville.
