STEVE OWEN – NEW MARKET, ALABAMA firstname.lastname@example.org
I was born in Atlanta, GA in 1950 to the greatest Mom and Dad ever! We lived in College Park, GA from 1950-1953 and then moved to Temple, GA from 1953-1961. The family moved to Birmingham, AL in 1961 so that my Dad, who worked for the Southern Railroad, didn’t have to make the drive from Temple, GA to Birmingham every day. I lived there until military service, U.S. Army, in 1970.
After military service I decided I needed an education, enrolled at Jacksonville State University and received a Business Degree in 1976. After graduation, I started working at Woolco Department Store, in Birmingham, AL, and met my beautiful wife Beth, whom I’ve been married to for 36 wonderful years. We have 3 lovely daughters and now have 2 of the prettiest, smart, granddaughters in the world!
In 1984 I was fortunate enough to start working at The Boeing Company in Huntsville, AL and we moved to New Market/Huntsville, AL. I'm now retired from Boeing after 28 years and loving it!
I played in rock & roll bands in Birmingham, AL back in the late 60's and then played in with a band in Huntsville from about 1985 – 1990. My Dad bought me my first guitar and amp in 1966 – a blue Fender Strat and Deluxe Reverb Amp! I sold the Strat when I was in college because I was paying my way on the GI Bill and I was basically broke most of the time But, to this day, I still have that Deluxe Reverb Amp and I’ll never part with it!
Songwriting is a real passion of mine and I started writing, really, about age 50, and have been writing more since I retired 1 1/2 years ago. I love Traditional County Music and Old Rock & Roll. Some of my music reflects both of these influences. I write because I love it. I don't write to try and make a hit (even though I wouldn’t turn one down LOL). I sing (some people would argue that point :), play guitar, mandolin and a little keyboard and bass. I do most of my recording at my home in Chipmunk Studios.
I believe, like most songwriters, that it is a God given talent and I am blessed in so many ways.
There are a LOT of great songwriter's out there and I’m honored and humbled to be associated with some great group of songwriter’s that I’ve met over the last few months. Steve Owen
