This has been an incredible week and I feel tremendously blessed. The first thing that was unexpected was to get to attend the CMA Songwriters Series with Kaylyn Lowe.  We had a blast, the writers were incredible, the venue was awesome and it truly inspired me to want to do much more with my writing.  Thank you NU

Yesterday afternoon, I shot a message to NU Michael and the next thing I know, he asked me what my plans were for the evening.  Pretty easy, Bible Study, a couple phone interviews with smaller radio stations.  He then replies, "can you cancel?"  I don't like to do that, but I knew something had to be up and said, "Sure if I need to."  I was then informed he had just been given two CMA Award Show tickets.  I told him very quickly, I would cancel.  ;)  Last night I had the opportunity thanks to NU to attend what I have seen on TV for as long as I can remember each year.  A couple stand out moments for me. #1 The tribute to George Jones, during which George Strait and Alan Jackson sang.  Nancy Jones was visibly shaken and getting close to breaking down, Vince Gill (One of my heroes in this industry) saw it and walked to her, held her and that gave her the strength to make it.  #2 Taylor Swift, Alison Krause, Vince Gill singing a kinda acoustic rendition of Taylor's song Red.  #3 George Strait earning Entertainer of the Year. #4 Realizing Taylor Swift wrote every song she's ever recorded.  Wow!  And although her lyrics don't speak to me on a personal level, I am in awe of her ability to connect and perform.  The other thing I noticed, she simply likes to have fun.  She genuinely was into each performance and at the end during Darius's Wagon Wheel, she was having fun and celebrating.  #5 My last thought on the evening, again it made me hungry.  I would truly love to be there on stage one day.  That's a silly thing to say maybe because most of us who are performers would like that, but it really made me hungry for it.  To play in front of that audience and have their respect would be more than I can imagine.

Thank you NU again for the opportunity!

Friday night is coming up and I purchased tickets to the CMA Christmas Concert.  I can't wait!  Although my tickets are not near as nice as those that I was awarded, the experience will be fantastic I'm sure and I feel blessed to be able to attend.

This week was also big for me as my second CD was released this week.  Already doing well on iTunes I am humbled by the support I've received so far.  Saturday Katlyn Lowe and I will both be performing at the Opry Mills Mall, I know I can speak for her and say we sure hope ya'll will make it out.  But the big date for both of us is Monday, November 11.  Please make every effort to come out to The Pavilion, 1530 Demonbreun from 6-9pm for our showcase and CD Launch Party.

Thank you again NU for all you are doing for us as Indie Artists trying to make it big in an industry that is hard to make it in.

Doug,  Great blog and keep working as hard as you do and you will be on that stage at the CMA Awards before you know it.  Remember this about music, the truly fun part is the climb!  It is an honor to know you and Nashville Universe is proud to have you as a member.  Thanks for all you do.

I forgot one other great moment- Seeing Kenny Rogers (one of my earliest influences) sing with Jennifer Nettles (my favorite female artist ever!)  Wow... Kenny being inducted into the hall of fame this week and receiving the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement was awesome!
