Ok, so you're an Indie artist that plays for his/her living. Your original works are registered with BMI-ASCAP-etc. and paid on the basis of plays. Well, If you play a club, venue, or event, they have to pay BMI-ASCAP etc. for bands that cover other artist's music. You just register your gigs to your BMI ASCAP etc. account and they have to pay you royalties for playing your own stuff. Every little bit counts so get your fair share. "And if you don't know, now you know."

Here's another good tip to get paid for your music & videos.  Create a Youtube Channel for yourself / band. The next step step after uploading some videos and inviting your friends to "Subscribe" is to "Monetize" the channel. Monetizing mean that you now receive royalties when people visit your channel & watch your videos. Note: Involve your FANS with your youtube channel. Direct them to the channel with facebook & twitter messages everytime you post a new video. Speaking of new videos...Give the Fans what they What!!  Post show footage, fan shout out / updates, touring adventures &  acoustic home performance videos. keep your fans involved weekly!  They'll be more inclined to subscribe and return to your channel.  Hopefully this tip provides you with more than royalty compensations :)
