Today is my Birthday. Time to reflect on the past year for me. This time last year I was living in Anchorage, running my own business and Pastoring a small church I had started. I was singing out almost every weekend and my boys were beginning their 2nd year of wrestling at their Jr High. I had just signed a deal with Tate Music Group and was working on charting all the new music out for my project. My wife was happy working at her job and life was pretty good. For me I was beginning to be in a bit of personal turmoil. I loved AK, I had lived there for the past 21 years and really had never seen myself leaving there, yet I knew I wanted to do more with my music. Could that be done from AK? The bottom line, no. I had already opened for a few of the big names that came to AK, sang at the states largest event, (The Iditarod) and several of the hokey games as well as the Alaska Rodeo. I had played almost every bar in Anchorage and even several way outside of Anchorage. All these thoughts and more began weighing on me. In May, I went down to OK and recorded the vocals for the project and it was during that time I really began to have a peace that we needed to leave AK. When I got back to Anchorage, my wife and I talked and she was ready as well. We put our house on the market, resigned my church and at that time had already sold my business. Our timing wasn't good on the housing market and we barely cleared what we needed to just get out from under the mortgage. We sold and gave away most everything we owned and had collected over the past 21 years. Loaded up a U-Haul Trailer, my truck, my wife's car and made the drive down to TN. Since being here, things haven't gone always as planned but we are glad to be here. I am truly enjoying the talent and the new friendships I've made. VRadio and NU have been a BIG part of my life since moving here and I want to thank Mick and Lacey as well as Michael K for their friendship and support. Joseph Page, Matthew Snare, Katelyn Lowe, y'all are awesome and I am truly thankful to be able to call you friends. This business is tough but I'm glad I have ya'll in my life as support and encouragers. There are many more who have written and emailed encouragement and I thank each and every one of you. Doug Zepp, we have not met, but I have enjoyed reading your posts, hearing your songs and seeing some of your artwork. Sara I look forward to hearing more of your music. Gibson and Michael Moore, to be included with ya'll in the final round of voting here on NU, I am truly humbled and honored. Folks I guess what I'm trying to say, is it has been a hard year, but a very rewarding one as well. I wouldn't do it any different if I had the chance. Thank you all!
