Tell us about yourself:
With a unique combination of smooth country vocals and an explosive live performance, Nashville Recording Artist Tom Dixon has given birth to a new way of delivering that sweet country sound, with a heart-pumping, foot-stomping beat that has been bringing audiences to their feet for years.
Tom Dixon is an award winning vocalist and entertainer who, like many other performers, got his start in music singing in the church choir. He was born on a small farm in Tewksbury, MA and moved to New Hampshire in the 1st grade. Tom always knew he wanted to be a singer. He spent his younger days singing along to old Kenny Rodgers tapes that his father would play as well as anything else he heard on the radio. Tom experimented with many different genres of music from rock and country to even R & B. In the end, you just can't take the country out of the boy. After watching the "Garth Brooks LIVE from Central Park" video he declared, "I am going to do that!" This was the beginning of what had become one of New England's hottest country bands and has inspired him to take this show to the next level.
Tom had taken guitar lessons at a very young age, but put it down for many years. In college he decided to pick it up again and the moment he learned a few chords, he was itching to learn how to write music and start a band. Tom gathered up a few band members and they started to work on honing their craft. Tom made sure that they spent months down in the basement learning the tunes and making sure they were tight. Tom didn't want to just play in a band, he wanted to put on a show. When they finally starting booking gigs there was no stopping the them! Tom has continued to hone his craft as a vocalist, songwriter, entertainer and guitarist.
Tom has continued to work on his song writing skills and has played several writers nights and open mics in Nashville, TN at places such as the legendary Blue Bird Cafe. Tom pulls influences from such artists as: Gary Allan, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Jason Aldean and legends like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. Tom is determined and will not let go of the dream. He has had an opportunity to open for artists such as: Eric Church, Alan Jackson, The Zac Brown Band, Sugarland, Phil Vassar & Kip Moore. In 2014 Tom is scheduled to open for Lady Antebelum, Billy Currington and Joe Nichols
Now living in Nashville, TN, Tom has been fortunate enough to work with Grammy Nominated Producer Kent Wells to create his first solo album "Kick Start This Party". To write music for this project, Tom paired up with many of Nashville's great writers such as: James Dean Hicks, Karen Staley, Beau Fuller, Joe Sins and Tami Hinesh. This album has been very well received by fans, friends and others in the industry. Some of the music from the album has already received airplay on radio stations such as 97.5 WOKQ out of Dover, NH, 94.3 WJJM in Lewisburg, TN, Kix 105.5 in St Johnsbury, VT and several internet radio stations.
In 2014 Tom as performances booked in Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, Virginia, Delaware, Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts with many more pending. This journey has only just begun and the goal is to reach fans in all 50 states and beyond.
