Dolly Dunn is an International Recording Artist under the Label True North Recordings Canada.
As a young girl at age 7, Dolly dreamed of becoming a Country Music Artist. She joined the local church choir to gain more vocal range and fell in love with gospel music also. Her Mom bought her a guitar when she was 12 years old and to learn how to play it, she would watch The Tommy Hunter Show every Friday night. Dolly would sing for anyone who would listen.
Dolly was born in a small town in Newfoundland Canada to two Irish Newfoundland parents and her father played the Accordion so her love of Irish and Celtic music played a big role in her music journey. She left home when she was 21 and moved to Alberta Canada where she spent 32 years of her life before moving to NB in August of 2018.
In 2015, Dolly was approached by a Producer in Georgia USA informing her that she had a very unique Country voice, after hearing her sing on social media. He asked her to record a song and to see where it went. Her first recording was a song titled Cherokee Rose, that when released of August 2015. It hit the charts and within a week of the release it reached the International and European Charts at Number 1 and stayed there for 6 weeks. Not only did the song reach Number 1 but also her Self Titled Album Cherokee Rose also went to number 1, and there started her dream she had as a child at 7 years old.
Dolly has been nominated for a lot of awards at the largest Independent Music Award show in the world, The Josie Music Awards in Nashville. She has won Album Of The Year In Los Angeles in 2018 for The Best Of Dolly Dunn, Album Of The Year in 2015 for Cherokee Rose, Song Of The Year for Somebody's Angel.
Dolly is also a recognized Song Writer and has written hundreds of songs which also has been recorded by other Artist, including herself. Her song, Back Stabbin Woman went to number 1 and was Nominated for Song Of The Year last year in Nashville. This year 2019 in September she is Nominated for Female Vocalist Of the Year in Traditional Country, Female Vocalist Of The Year In Gospel, Song Of The Year for her Newest Single No More Pain, and Best Collaboration Of The Year. Her Label , True North Recordings Canada is also nominated for Label Of The Year which she started herself in May of 2016 and it was also nominated last year. The International Singer/Song Writers Awards In Georgia in August of 2019 this year, she is also nominated for 3 major awards which includes, Female Vocalist Of The Year, Album Of The Year for Dunn It Again and Promoter Of the Year. Dolly has more than 15 Artist signed to her Label which she promotes herself.
Dolly has played three times on The Texas Opry in Texas and in Sept of 2018 she had one of her dreams come to life when she joined her Idol and now friend, Carroll Baker on Stage at The Fredericton Playhouse. She has also had many duet recording's with various Artist and is recording her second Gospel and Country Albums to be released soon. Dolly has recorded hundreds of Country, Gospel, Irish and Newfoundland songs and it won't stop there. Her single now climbing the Country Charts is titled Testing 123 by Nova Scotia's own Joyce Seamone. She also has performed twice at The Fredericton Playhouse since she has moved to NB.
Dolly describe's herself as a very down to earth simple Country singer/Songwriter. Her love of Country Music and her huge fan following of thousands worldwide is the main reason why she continues to do what she has always loved.
