Robert Barlow has writen over 100 songs. And not only does he record, mix, and play all the instruments on his original CDs, he creates the art and logos for the CDs. He is all so the creator of the computer animations for the music videos that accompanies some of his songs. His first foray into learning an instrument himself came at the age of 12. Later he began writing his own songs because he couldn't afford music books or sheet music. At the age of 16 he started playing night clubs were the bands he played in had to help hide his underage. He kept a low profile and had to let the band set up the equipment without him, so he could stay out of sight of the club owners.
Robert's musical journey started in Jackson, MS. However, he was born in West Monroe, La. He lived there till he turned 15. As he neared his 16th birthday, one night he hitch hiked to Jackson, MS to stay with his mother who had moved there with her boyfriend.
After realizing that making music was his main goal, he began to showcase his talent in various venues, playing at numerous gigs and making sure that his name and music were being heard by as many people as possible. He was quickly noted for the unique style that he brought to the traditional country and rock music. As his confidence grew and his style developed, he soon saw a loyal following begin to grow and he became a popular local hit. He later learned how to play bass and taught himself how to play the piano. Here his musical ambitions continued to grow.
