Seeing how fabulous Taylor Swift looks on the cover of Vogue makes you wonder, "What took them so long?" Swift is officially the first country singer to grace that coveted cover. And now that she is here, it was so worth the wait. In her floppy Carly Simon hat, smoky eyes, choppy bangs and a celery-and-periwinkle cable knit sweater. (And by the way, remind me to have all my future Vogue covers shot by Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino. He is clearly very good at his job.) But beyond what she's wearing, the story itself is stunning in the way it gets Swift to talk about sticking with songs about that vulnerable mindset of teenage girls. Swift tells the magazine about moving when she was in fourth grade. "So ... middle school?" she says. "Awkward. Having a hobby that's different from everyone else's? Awkward. Singing the national anthem on weekends instead of going to sleepovers? More awkward. Braces? Awkward. Gain a lot of weight before you hit the growth spurt? Awkward. Frizzy hair, don't embrace the curls yet? Awkward. Try to straighten it? Awkward!" Swift put all that awkwardness behind her and came out on the other side looking, well, worthy of the cover of Vogue.
